Foods With Low Carb

Food containing low amount of carbs has become well-known since Dr. Atkins introduced his very own diet. The aim of the diet is to consume low carbohydrate but high protein food items.

This combination allows the body to use the fat stores as energy as it would normally be using the carbohydrates. After all, it is carbohydrates that are the most fattening thing for us, not fat like most people believe.

Low carb diet food can help you to achieve your weight loss goals or help you in maintaining your current weight and fitness. The tricky thing about deciding to follow this diet is that a lot of people don't know what foods they can and should eat in order to maximize their weight loss.

When it comes to breakfast, a lot of cereals available are high in carbohydrates are they are originally manufactured from grains, oats and maize. The best thing to eat first thing in the morning is a fresh fruit salad, or making your own smoothies by blending your favourite combination of fruits together.

Alternatively, you could try making your own Greek style yogurt and putting some fresh raspberries or blackberries in to give it added taste and health benefits. Both of these breakfast ideas are fast to make and contain very low carbs. There are packed full of slow releasing energy in order to keep you full until lunch time.

Dishes like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes are best left out of the diet. Those foods are rich in carbohydrates and will ruin any Low carb diet food plan that you could be on. Besides these, all meats are still completely acceptable and also suggested.

You could have an appetizing tuna steak with salad or a lean grilled steak with horseradish. Both these meals are prime examples of Low carb diet food, and also show you that there is no need to suffer to follow this regime.

All vegetables, with the exception of potatoes and cauliflower, are permitted any time of the day and you can have as much as you like. This is great for following a Low carb diet food plan as vegetables only contain carbohydrates from natural sugars, and a very little amount at that.

If you're really missing mashed potato, then you can substitute this with turnips of sweet potatoes. Try boiling some turnips and carrots and mashing them together to create a healthier and rather tasty mash potato alternative.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways in which you can cut out carbohydrates from your diet and replace them with foods lower in carbs. All you need to do is make smart decision about what foods you are eating and spend a bit of time researching alternatives to your most favourite foods.

There is no need to feel hungry throughout the day and there are lots of filling alternatives to select from so you could start your low carb diet food plan straight away.
