How to Create the Perfect Pasta Dish

By Erica I. Gaughan

When creating appetizing pasta, start with something very simple. The kind of pasta you decide on is really a significant difference, especially when you consider the sauce you will end up serving onto it. Personally, I love fettuccine Alfredo.

Get started with a sizable cooking pot, like a soup pot, and set water to boiling hot. You want to have enough water within it to fully cover all of the pasta you will be adding later on. I usually put a bit of salt within the water. It helps the pasta hold the flavor with the sauce later on. In addition, add about a tablespoon of oil (extra virgin when you can obtain it) towards the water. This will assist the pasta not cling with each other. Bear in mind, nobody likes clumpy, boring pasta!

Once the water has hit a good rolling boil, put the pasta. Remember that the water will foam and then try to boil up from the pot, so have a big pasta fork or spoon ready to stir. I end up blowing around the pot most of the time, simply to keep the excess bubbles down.

You can tell when the pasta gets ready to drain when the noodles start looking actually soft when you stir them. They are going to furthermore go from a darkish beige to a light tan. It is usually best if you taste a noodle from the pot, in order to make sure it's cooked all the way through.

Should the pasta is cooked properly, drain the pasta in a colander. Keep in mind, it will be definitely hot, so enjoy a mini facial within your kitchen! You will want to run cool water over the pasta before you put it back in the pot. The water flushes away the extra starch from the boiling water, and it's really another little tip to maintain the noodles from keeping together.

I am hoping this can help you improve your own pasta cooking skills.
