The History of Food Recipes

Ever since, the human came into being, the need of recipes is there. Earlier, humans were not aware of different spices, but as the time goes on, they started using different procedures.

That's how the recipes started to evolve.

Ancient Egypt

Early Egyptians used simple food recipes mainly comprising of meat (duck, geese and sometimes seafood (fish)), fruits (melon, figs, and dates), vegetables (onions, radishes, lettuce etc)

One notable thing, Egyptians made their own cooking oil as well as grew spices and herbs. They also made beer with the mixture of barley and water and barley bread`1

Roman BritainIn Britain, the food introduction was done for the very first time by Romans.

Different types of vegetables were their daily meal and they nourished themselves with their frequent use.

Various vegetables were used by Roman Britain, but they liked fish sauce called liquamen

SaxonThere was not much variety for food in Saxon England and they mostly relied on bread, butter, cheese and beer. The ordinary inhabitants mostly used plain food recipes because they had limited options in their meal

Middle AgesPeople in middle ages made recipes out of beef, mutton, pork, venison and a variety of birds. Poor people ate simple and monotonous food.

The only diet was dark bread, sometimes cheese was used to add taste to their meal

AztecAztecs have made tortilla, a pancake made up of baked maize flour.

More recipes include atole, tamales, octli and pulgue etc

16th-18th CenturyAs 16th century dawned, meat was still rich peopleĆ¢€™s food and was not in access of other ones. Poor people were using vegetables.

Though, bread was used by each of class, but it was differentiated by quality.

Many new food items were introduced in the mid of 17th century, like tea, ice cream and chocolate. In 18th century, tea was enormously used by every class

Later eras:In the start of 19th century, working class used potatoes as fries and chips and bread with butter in their recipes. One of the luxury food items was the meat taken from butcher.

In 1860s, Britain had some chips shops and fish shops. The margarine was introduced in 1870

Families started to have evening tea with boiled potatoes as it had become common during 19th century.

Sweets were yet another luxury item in 1914, but they became cheaper with the passage of time.

Pizza and hamburger, introduced in 1980, have became popular food items.

There were many food items made genetically, that were used immensely in food recipes during 20th century.
