St Emilion wine are well known French products which include an array of varieties including cabernets, merlots, Bordeauxs, and others. It is the oldest wine district in France and covers over 13,000 acres in the northeast Bordeaux region of the country. It is also known as the Right Bank. The limestone, sandy and gravel soils of the area have helped produce the rich and intense flavors of the deep reds.

Although the vineyards in the area have produced quality products for hundreds of years, they were not classified along with other similar ones in 1855. However, they were re-classified in 1955 and updated about every ten years since. The products were divided into premier grand cru classe' A, premier grand cru classe' B, and grand cru classe'.

Pairing these wines with your favorite dishes is simple and these full-bodied red wines go well with lamb, salmon, wild game, grilled items and ribs. They are also a favorite companion of many cheeses and cheese appetizers, making them a wonderful happy hour beverage.
