Easy cake recipe

It was described in the book as an easy cake recipe but it's all gone wrong! The butter was too hard, the batter was drippy and the cake you made came out all sunken and burned beyond all recognition.

Most importantly don't let this set you back - even experienced and well established cake makers have the odd miss hap; and while we're on the subject, easy cake making recipes isn't just all about how it ends up looking. It's worth bearing in mind that a cake doesn't have to look aesthetically please for it to taste delicious. If your cake does go wrong, you don't have to waste it - get the parts which can still be eaten and freeze them (you can use later in the bottom of a trifle or tiramisu) and then let your dog eat the rest.
