Green Smoothie Recipes Are Packed With Nutrients

By Jean Stanley

Smoothies are a very popular thing to drink, especially for breakfast or during times when it's really hot. Though traditionally connected with fruit, green smoothie recipes are changing that idea. People are now making healthy and nutritious drinks using leaf green vegetables as a main ingredient. This is a good way to improve nutrition and eat more vegetables.

Increasing the amount of fiber you eat each day is healthy for your digestive system, and eating more vegetables is the best way to get more fiber. Having the extra fiber will make you feel less hungry throughout the day, which can help you eat less if you are trying to lose weight.

It is also important to consider how much more nutritious fruits and vegetables are in their raw state. When you add them to your smoothie, the nutrients have not begun to break down as they do in cooked vegetables.

To make the recipes, you will need to have a blender. Any brand should do, as long as the motor is strong enough to chop the vegetables. You can begin with a Kale and Banana Smoothie, which is very easy and incredibly delicious. You will need 2 bananas, 2 tablespoons of hulled hemp seeds, 1 bag of frozen blue berries, about 5 leaves of fresh kale.

Put everything into the blender, then add milk or water until your ingredients are covered. Soy, almond, or rice milk can be substituted as well. Blend the ingredients together, then go ahead and have a drink! That recipe will make enough for 2-3 people.

It is easy to mix and match fruits and vegetables to make different varieties of drinks. It is easy to invent your own green smoothie recipes using whatever produce is currently in season. It will be a delicious way to reintroduce a variety of fresh food into your diet.
