Recipe for Whole Wheat Pancake

By Ben Panny

Whole wheat flour is far better for your wellness than standard all-purpose white flour. Why? Fundamentally - whole grains are far better sources of fiber and other important nutrients, like selenium, potassium and magnesium. So if you want to make your pancakes healthier use this whole wheat pancake recipe. I like these pancakes just the same as typical ones, they are good! Probably even better. However should you think that pancakes created 100% out of whole wheat flour are a little bit to dense and not so soft (it could happen) you can utilize a combination of both flours. For instance make use of 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup all purpose flour. You are going to also notice that we're replacing sugar with artificial sweetener in this recipe. You can also omit the sugar in pancakes alltogether. You either have to adjust your tastebuds a little bit or make use of a sweet topping for your pancakes. However I can tell you from personal experience - your taste can alter. I began utilizing much less salt and less sugar in my diet program. At first I felt like my meals aren't salty or sweet enough yet after a while your taste adjusts and they taste fine, just healthier. And food which you used to think is normal is suddenly too salty. Well anyway.. Lets get started with the recipe! :)

Whole wheat pancake recipe ingredients

1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 egg, 1 cup milk (you may add more if necessary), 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon artificial sweetener (you could also use brown sugar, honey or no sugar at all),

This recipe serves 4.

Making pancakes and pancake batter is easy, there's no way you could make "mix everything together" hard :)! But if you want directions then comply with this:

1. Sift together flour and baking powder.

2. Take a container and beat together the egg, milk, salt and artificial sweetener.

3. Stir in flour/baking powder till you get a nice even batter with no flour lumps. Is the batter too thick? Add some more milk, but don't overdo it... another 1/4 cup is max. Pancake batter should be thin enough so you can pour it on the pan but still so thick that it isn't runny.

4. For cooking you can utilize a griddle, a skillet, a normal pan and so on... if it's not non-stick - spray it with cooking spray. Even when it's non-stick you can apply certain cooking spray if you'd like. You'll notice the distinction in the look of pancakes and decide for yourself which ones do you like more.

5. Wait for your skillet to heat up, use moderate heat. Don't begin generating pancakes while the skillet is still cold. You could test it by pouring a little drop of batter on to it. If it makes "sssssss...." sound, it really is hot enough.

6. To make one pancake you pour about 1/4 cup of the batter into the pan.

7. Cook until you see bubbles on top, this normally takes about 1 1/2 minutes. Then turn the pancake around, and keep on cooking till it becomes golden brown.

That's it, you've just learned how you can make whole wheat pancake recipe.
