By Ben Panny

How you can make malted waffles? One way would be to use malted milk and follow this malted waffle recipe. A speedy note for men and women like us that didn't really know what malted indicates :). Malting is actually a method in which you let cereal grains to start developing, getting ready to sprout, the juices begin flowing (we have no concept:) ) and just prior to they basically sprout and the plant develops they are easily dried and the procedure is stopped. Talk about a buzz kill. Anyway. Malted grains can then be used to make malted flour and other things... for example malted milk. Malted milk is actually a combination of malted barley, wheat flour, and whole milk. The mix is evaporated till all you're left with is a malted powder milk. Well enough technical information for a single malted waffle recipe. Lets get busy.

Malted Waffle Recipe

For this malted waffle recipe we'll require:

1 egg, 1 cup flour, 3 tbsps. malted milk powder, 3/4 cup milk, 4 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt

This is one of the beat the egg whites waffle recipes so 1st thing we'll do is this - separate the egg and beat the egg white in a little bowl until it's stiff.

Now take a bowl and mix in all the dry in ingredients - flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and malted milk powder. Take an additional bowl and mix in egg yolk, milk and melted butter. Add this to the dry ingredients bowl and once more mix till the mixture just blends.

It's egg whites time. Fold in beaten egg white till just mixed. Stop, that's enough :). Egg whites make the malted waffles softer. Should you mix too much you lose the impact.

And you are accomplished. Just cook the waffles based on the instructions on your waffle maker and your malted waffle recipe is done.
