Apple Pie Recipe

Apple Pie Ingredients:

For Crust:

cup all-purpose flour (110 g)

teaspoon granulated sugar (5 g)

1/4 teaspoon salt (1.25 g)

1/2 cup shortening (105 g)

1/4 cup cold water (60 ml)

egg yolk

For Pie filling:

3 apples

1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)

1 teaspoon cinnamon (5 ml)

1 tablespoon lemon juice (5 ml)

For Crumble:

1/3 cup butter (115 g)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour (55 g)

1/2 cup brown sugar (115 g)

1/2 cup oatmeal (45 g)

1 pinch cinnamon

Instructions:

Prep Time: 25 min

Cook time: 50 min

Total Time: 1 1/4 hr

Serves: 6-8

First, prepare the crust by mixing together flour, sugar and salt.

Mix in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse pieces.

Add egg yolk and water in to the mixture.

Mix thoroughly until dough is smooth and combined.

Roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick. Add flour to dough if it is too sticky.

Gently put inside a pie plate and cut edges to fit. Employ fingers to form a clean edge for the pie shell.

To make the apple filling, peel and slice apples thinly.

Pour out lemon juice on apple slices to stop from browning.

Stir in sugar and cinnamon to apples, and then mix well.

Pour apple mixture evenly into pie shell and set aside.

To prepare the crumble, mix all ingredients in a bowl using a fork.

Spread crumble mixture uniformly above pie, slightly pressing down

Sprinkle cinnamon on top of pie.

Bake pie at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes.

Remove from oven and let it cool.

Serve and appreciate!
