A Quick Guide To Tasty Popular Fruit Smoothies

By Troy Harper

With little work and the press of a button, popular fruit smoothies can be created at home. All a person needs is a strong blender, fruits, leaf greens, and juice or milk.

Many types of blenders are on the market today. They come in a range of sizes, colors, and prices. People should take the time to find one that fits in their budget and still be able to grind and crush ingredients to a creamy consistency.

Fresh or frozen fruits are used to make palate-pleasing beverages. It is good to taste produce before blending. This practice can help an individual determine if sweetener is needed. A couple of ice cubes are generally added to thicken and chill the concoction. It should be noted, however, that ice tends to water down the mixture. Consequently it may be wiser to use pieces of frozen fruit instead. There will be no loss of thickness or sweetness.

Store-bought frozen fruits tend to be too sweet and too pricey. Produce grown at home or bought in the store can make delicious drinks. Overripe berries and bananas may be frozen to make natural shakes instead of being thrown away. Green leafy vegetables like spinach and kale provide additional nutrients. Fresh produce tends to yield a higher concentration of nutrients.

Mangoes, berries, cantaloupe, bananas, and watermelon work well to make smooth-as-silk concoctions. For people who cannot tolerate regular milk these beverages can be made with fresh or pasteurized juices and soy or rice milk. Vanilla or other extracts can add even more flavor. To make it easier for the blender to work, it is recommended that liquids be added before solids.

Most people are probably more familiar with strawberry smoothies. Making popular fruit smoothies at home requires a strong blender, produce, and milk or juice. Children can help create these drinks easily. Breakfast and brunch gatherings may benefit from a smoothie station.
