Is Bottled Water Healthy?

By Victor Hood

Water may be in abundance but not for drinking. This might sound familiar to you, and you might associate it to earthquakes, tsunamis, heavy rain, and flood. No. It is the mantra of everybody - From Australia to Iceland, from Hawaii to San Francisco people are scared to drink water directly from any source. Bottled water carries a declaration that it is 100% pure and free from bacteria and other harmful substances, and is accepted by us as safe to drink.

Our body's demand for water is called thirst. It is quenched by an intake of water. Is pure bottled water needed? How about some salts and minerals? Why remove the life saving minerals through osmosis? Many researches have been conducted in relation to drinking pure water. It's been said that removing the minerals through osmosis isn't necessary and is not natural. Are our bodies designed to intake pure water? Is pure water good for our health? These are what scientists ask.

Pure bottled water is among the biggest industries in many developing countries nowadays. The populations of these countries which used to carry their drinking water (mostly drawn from the communal wells) or drink directly from the water taps in railway stations are brain washed to think only pure water in bottles are fit to drink.

Even the people in developed countries cultivated their bias against water available from various sources in public places only a couple of decades ago.

There are researches about certain communities who drink a special source of water, like the fabled Hunza water, and it shows that Hunza citizens lived up to a hundred and fifty years. Studies show that the water is responsible for the Hunza citizens' long lives.

Other special sources of water include the springs of Lourdes, the well of Mexico, the Nordeneau Caves in Germany, and the Indian Nadana springs. These waters are very strong antioxidants, with high hydrogen content and with negative charges. So that means that water with minerals is good for the body.

Arguments for and against pure bottled water will continue to rage as along as our body's demand for fluid continues. There will be studies and results, but opinions will be unending.
