The Known Dangers Of Products Designed For Losing Weight

By Cary Culverson

There appears to be a continuous struggle involving some sectors of the fat loss industry and regulators including the FDA, Food and Drug Administration and the FTC, Federal Trade Commission. It all depends on where you look, but it is not difficult to find ads that guarantee to remove fat from the system in record time. For example, there are pills and patches allegedly designed to burn and eliminate fat almost instantly, relatively speaking. You may want to recall, or know, that a great many of these merchandise have not specifically been studied by the FDA. As far as the FTC is concerned, they have a full time job just staying in touch with everything else they have to manage. If you do plenty of your own research, you will notice that a lof so called herbal constituents have not been studied or recognized for specific uses as promoted.

It is easy to understand that a person who is overweight is discouraged and almost too prepared to try something that may not be very wholesome to consume. As an example, they see all kinds of ads for shedding pounds, and perhaps presume they are safe given that they are on the shelf. It is accurate that a product can be unveiled using components with no background of human testing to verify they are safe for usage. There are quite a few organic ingredients that could result in serious medical issues, as well as contributing to death. We all recall the news surrounding ephedra and the situations leading to it being forbidden in the US. But that is simply one, and there are others that are of a similar likely risk.

One very dangerous ingredient is Phenylpropanolamine, and as of this penning it can be bought online. This particular ingredient made the media about a decade ago when it was commonly used in cold medicines and fat reduction pills. One of the problems with this ingredient is it was sold under diverse names and all were related to weight loss. Phenylpropanolamine was observed to perhaps cause a whole host of very serious medical problems such as sudden death. What we find most astounding is that this is still offered for purchase with a simple search in the biggest search engine in the world. The sad thing about it is not everyone is conscious of the dangers involved with something like this, and they can still purchase it, today.

It is simply extremely hard, we think, for any agency to be totally aware of everything that happens, and we must watch out for ourselves ultimately. Just think about the process that allows for a dangerous product to remain and be easily obtained so long after the facts are known. There just are no shortcuts with weight loss, and people need to recognize that sometimes you just are not able to have a fast and easy route to success.

There is nothing easy about losing a lot of weight, and that appears to be the unfortunate bottom line. All it takes is choosing healthy foods in common sense amounts and just getting some exercising in a few days a week.
