Wonderfully Rich Chocolate Cakes Made from the Comfort of Home in Virtually No Time

Delightful and rich homemade chocolate cakes are a wonderful way to welcome your kids back from school or send as a present to your children at college. It is also relatively therapeutic to bake a homemade chocolate cake. The exquisite scent of freshly baked chocolate cake in the air acts as a great stress reliever for most of us. Given below are some simple and delicious homemade chocolate cake recipes you can prepare in no time.

1. Simple chocolate cake recipe

Ingredients:

- Shortening - 155 grams

- Sugar - 300 grams

- Eggs - 2

- Milk - 125 ml

- Cocoa powder - 6 tablespoons

- Baking soda - 10 mg

- Baking powder - 10 mg

- White flour - 250 grams

- Vanilla essence - 5 mg

- Boiling water - 250 ml

To prepare:

- Break the eggs in a mixing bowl and whisk them till fluffy.

- Add the sugar and shortening and then whisk some more until the sugar dissolves.

- Add milk and vanilla essence and mix well.

- Now add the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sodium bicarbonate and cocoa powder) to the wet ingredients and mix well.

- Add the boiling water to the mix and fold gently.

- Pour the mix into a greased 9-inch baking pan.

- Bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 35 minutes, until the top is firm and the cake is springy to touch.

- Remove the cake from the oven and leave it to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Serve the chocolate cake with warm chocolate sauce on the side and enjoy as a yummy dessert.

2. Chocolate coffee cake

Ingredients:

- Flour - 250 grams

- Sugar - 300 grams

- Cocoa powder - 6 tablespoons

- Baking powder - 10 mg

- Baking soda - 10 mg

- Vanilla essence - 10 ml

- Brewed cold coffee - 270 ml

- Mayonnaise - 600 grams

To prepare:

- Heat the oven to 350F.

- In a deep mixing bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the sugar. Use an electric mixer to whip the mix so that the sugar and mayonnaise form a thick mix.

- Add the cold coffee and whisk some more.

- Mix in the vanilla essence.

- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda.

- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and blend the mix well so that there aren't any lumps remaining and you get a thick mix of dropping consistency.

- Grease a 9-inch baking pan and pour the cake batter in the pan.

- Bake the cake in the heated oven for about thirty minutes.

- Allow the cake to cool before cutting in slices to serve.

This chocolate coffee cake is perfect for serving at a tea party.
