By Anukriti Parsai

Spaghetti, pasta, pizza and so on are all incomplete if not served with cheesy garlic bread. The wonderful thing about the garlic cheese bread recipe is that you can add your own tiny twist. These go with almost every dish that you cook in the kitchen. Garlic cheese bread is also served as a snack with tea and drinks and when served as garlic bread sticks it becomes a hit among the kids.

Below are a few straightforward garlic cheese bread recipe with tiny twists:

Tangy garlic cheese bread

Ingredients

Bread (any variety you like). You may use a loaf or separate slices.

1 to 2 heads of garlic (depending on your taste). If you're serving as a side dish use more garlic, but if serving as a light snack use less amounts of garlic, chives and chopped parsley.

One to two sticks of butter

Zest of a lemon

Two tablespoons of Cajun spice seasoning

One (1) cup of grated cheese

Method

Crush the garlic in a bowl and add cheese, chives, parsley, lemon zest, butter and Cajun spice to it. Let it rest for a period of time so all the ingredients will mix. Take the bread slices and spread the mix on the slices. If you've gone and taken a loaf, slice in the middle and add the mix to form a sandwich. Bake the bread in a heated oven at 200 C for 15 minutes. Serve hot.

Differing types of cheeses mixed together - One cup (parmesan, feta, and so on)

Butter - 2 sticks

Garlic cloves - Fifteen (15) or Twenty (20)

Garlic salt - One (1) tablespoon

Herbs of your choosing - 1 teaspoon

Milk - 1 teaspoon

Preparation

Melt the butter and milk together in a microwave. Let it cool and then add the cheese, crushed garlic, garlic salt and herbs. Mix thoroughly and put it in a food processor to create a smooth butter-like texture. Spread the blend on the bread slices. Now wrap the bread slices in silver foil and seal tightly. You can also sprinkle some additional cheese over the slices. Preheat the oven to 220 C and bake the silver foil wrapped bread for fifteen to twenty minutes. Serve while still hot.

You may also use the soft garlic bread to make chicken or vegetable grilled sandwiches for lunch the following day. Serve the bread accompanied with cucumber dip or salsa and bask in the delicious taste of your evening tea. Substitute normal butter with low-fat butter and cheese with low-fat cheese for those that are diet conscious.
