Recipes for Ravioli Filling: The simplest way to Make Homemade Ravioli

By Elizabeth Lang

Recipes for ravioli filling can be anything from savoury to sweet, and every combo between. You can opt to make virtually anything that can work for your preferences or pairs well with the diverse tastes you are making with it. Nevertheless, it helps to have 1 or 2 tasty recipes that are the ideal creation of amazing flavours. From traditional to more modern, be creative with the choices you make.

Traditional Ricotta Filling

One of the most conventional of homemade ravioli fillings is a ricotta based filling. Ricotta, a mild, white soft Italian cheese can offer a number of key benefits. It works well with white or red sauces, as well as wine-based sauces. Additionally, this filling is quite simple to make. Just mix one cup of ricotta cheese (found in most dairy sections of corner shop stores) with one egg then salt, and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for roughly 20 to 30 minutes before placing a spoon sized amount inside each ravioli.

Spinach Filling

Another choice is spinach filling with meat. For this recipe, brown cup of ground meat chuck. Remove all fat from it and then add in the following ingredients.

- cup unfrozen and drained chopped spinach (from a frozen state.)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- cup of Parmesan cheese grated
- 1/3 cup of fine dry bread crumbs
- 2 Spoons of thinly sliced parsley
- little spoon of salt
- teaspoon of grated black pepper

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. If you've a protein grinder, run the blend thru the grinder. If not, you can simply mash it together to form a fine texture. Chill for a minimum of 30 minutes before using in ravioli.

Chocolate and Bananas

For a tasty ravioli filling, choose a sweet treat. You can make these stuffed with nearly any kind of sweet filing you want. It's a smart idea to select fillings that will have a significant creamy substance to them, without or with a lot of texture. You can simply boil these in a pan after filling the dough, or, for a fascinating treat, deep-fry them. That methodology works very well for a banana and chocolate ravioli.

Simply mix a mashed, overly ripe medium banana into a mixing bowl. Add cup of light brown sugar and 1/3 of a cup of your favourite nut (use walnuts, pecans, or almonds for the best mix.) Then, fill the ravioli with this combination with a teaspoon sized amount of a spreadable chocolate (you can also use a Nutella-style chocolate.) Seal the sides of the ravioli and deep fry for simply a minute. Allow to cook entirely before eating them.

Other recipes for from scratch ravioli filling include chicken, prosciutto, peppers, butternut squash with brown sugar and even those stuffed with chestnuts and cheese. Be as creative as you want, but the most vital thing to do is to sample the filling before making an entire batch. You can use wonton wrappers rather than making ravioli dough if you want a faster solution.
