Eating Italian food is great and makes for a great evening out. The problem in this case is choosing what to order with your wines of choice in mind. A lot of the time, the waiters and waitresses will advise which label to order, depending on the dish that is being prepared. But if you are accompanied by a party and they choose to order a bottle for the table, it might be wise to know which food to go for. Wine pairing with Italian food is easy.

In terms of wines from Italy, Chianti is a popular favourite and will often be spotted on the menu. In this case, it is important that you should go for a tomato-based dish, like spaghetti alongside tomato sauce. You may also wish to choose a cheese sauce for this one, depending on your taste.

If you are into your stronger wines, you might fancy ordering Barolo. This is defined as a strong drink characterized by a very distinct taste. So not to subtract from the dining experience, maybe you should opt for a rich tasty meat-based dish. For example, a penne Bolognese always fits nicely.

When it comes to the more universally popular wines, Chardonnay is known as a very popular favourite. If your table decide to settle on a bottle of Chardonnay, make sure you go for a ravioli dish with a cheesy sauce and stuffed with porcini mushrooms. This is a sure way of making your meal a satisfying one.

Riesling is a name that you will often hear in expert circles. If your party decide to opt for this classic drink, perhaps you should ask for a gnocchi dish of some sort. This makes for the ultimate combination and will leave you with a satisfying taste.

In case you feel like something boasting a wide variety of different tastes, go for the Pinot Noir. This is a classy wine which should be taken as the highlight of the evening.
