Chefs are not limited to working for one employer or at one work station. Most of them work for multiple employers. Hence, they are exposed to different working environments. They may work on a yacht, private estate or at a private island.

The employer decides whether the person works in a group or alone. However, most of them do work in groups. There are many who also work as a restaurant cook and do these stints as a part time job.

Planning the meals of the customer is one of the duties of a private cook. Customers usually schedule the visit of a private cook. They may come as often as every day or every other month.
