Tips In Cleaning A Crystal Wine Decanter

By Flora Vinson

To clean a crystal wine decanter, the person should protect the item by laying it down on a towel. However, he should use a rubber mat if such an item exists in one's household. The sink should be the best place to clean the item so lay it down at the bottom.

When cleaning, the person should wash the exterior using warm water and a dish detergent. Use a soft sponge if the decanters have etchings. This will be very helpful in reaching out the crevices on the ornate or the decorative surfaces.

Similar to how the outside was cleaned, clean the inside with similar solution. The warm water with dish detergent solution should be shook while inside the item. This way, it swishes around and cleans the inside. Rinse with clean, warm water afterward.

It is also unavoidable that there are stains and rings remaining. To remove these, he should mix in vinegar with rock salt inside. Shake it so that the rock salt can dislodge the stubborn stain. On the other hand, the vinegar can dissolve the deposits. Allow the mixture to soak for a few hours and rinse.

If there are remaining stains on the item, he should make a mixture of warm water, rock salt, and baking soda. The mixture should be swished around. This will eventually eliminate the stains remaining on the item. Rinse it after.

For those super stubborn stains that still remains, there is still a way to get them off. He can use a solution made of warm water dropped with denture-cleaning tablet. When this effervesce, he should let it sit overnight. He can rinse it the next day.

One will need to dry up the crystal wine decanter. To dry the inside, he can make use of a paper towel rolled around the handle of a long spoon. This makes it easier to absorb the moisture. He should leave this overnight for better drying.
