Delicious Finger Food Recipe for Your Next Dinner Party

By Anukriti Parsai

Garlic, cheese and bread are three (3) of the easiest ingredients that can be found in any kitchen. You can easily turn these 3 items into a heavenly bread recipe or finger food for your next dinner party. The following garlic cheese bread recipe only takes fifteen minutes of preparation and ten (10) minutes of cooking time. You can prepare the cheese mix in advance and use it just before serving.

Items needed:

- Grated cheddar cheese - Three and a half cups

- Monterey Jack cheese, grated - 3/4 cup

- Parmesan cheese (grated) - 1/2 cup

- Mayonnaise - Half (1/2) a cup

- Green onions - Four

- Salt - 1 pinch

- Fresh crusty French bread - One (1) loaf

- Butter - One (1) stick

- Fresh garlic cloves - Four

To prepare:

- Hand-grated cheese is tastier than store-bought so try to use fresh grated cheese.

- Remove the outer skins of the garlic cloves by peeling.

- Mince the garlic cloves using a sharp knife to get very fine pieces.

- Finely chop the green onions from the white part to the dark green part. You should get small ringlets.

- In a clean bowl, take half (1/2) a cup of mayonnaise and add the chopped green onions to it.

- Now add one (1) cup of grated cheddar cheese, three-quarters of a cup of grated Monterey Jack cheese and half a cup of finely grated parmesan cheese.

- Add the salt. Note: If you use salted butter you can completely skip the salt as the cheeses also contain salt.

- Mix all the ingredients together well.

- Store the mix in the fridge for later use. Storing will also let all the flavours mix together.

- To prepare the bread, slice the bread in half horizontally and then in half vertically to create four (4) equal pieces.

- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

- Divide the chopped garlic into four (4) parts.

- Divide the butter in four (4) equal amounts.

- Take one portion of butter and one portion of garlic in a heavy bottomed skillet.

- Saute over low heat.

- Place one piece of bread (white face down) in the butter and let the bread soak up the butter. The garlic pieces should stick to the bread.

- Remove the bread from the pan.

- Take the left-over garlic pieces from the pan and add a new portion of butter and garlic.

- Repeat the above steps for all pieces of bread.

- Place all the bread pieces on a baking sheet or tray and spread the prepared cheese mix over the top of each piece of bread.

- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for ten (10) minutes until the cheese is bubbly and hot.

- Remove from the oven and slice the bread into fingers (thin slices) to serve.

- Serve hot.
