We all know that breakfast is regarded as the most important meal of the day, but that does not answer the question "What to eat for breakfast?". - hot sauce
- calories: about 300

"Party Omelet" Directions:

1. Heat up a pan with some oil. I really like to use coconut oil beacause it's got a high smoke point and is good for you.
2. Then add the four eggs. I use two full eggs + 2 eggs whites. The yolk is basically superb for you, so you do not need to cut them out fully. In reality just eating egg whites can lead to a vitamin B deficiency, but clever nature has put something in the yolk to handle it, so when you eat the entire, whole food, you do not have to fret about it. I then add an additional 2 whites of the eggs to add more protein but keep the calories lower. Also, I like fried eggs and to keep my yolks sort of runny. You can cook to your own preference but there's evidence that not over cooking the eggs and yolk retains more of the nutrients, so try not so cook it so long that it tastes like rubber.
3. Add any vegetables that you like- the more the merrier! I enjoy onions and herbs like cilantro or rosemary. Herbs are full of fantastic nutriments for the body so get a mixed bunch and sprinkle them in liberally.
4. When the eggs are prepared, take them out of the pan and put them on a plate.
5. Drizzle on some hot sauce to sample.
6. Add 2 teaspoons of salsa (I buy organic salsa in a container, but it is great if you want to make it fresh).
7. Add 2 teaspoons of guacamole (again, I buy it in a container, but even better to make it at home).
8. For the piece de resistance I add a side of fresh, unpasturized saurkraut.

And voila! You have got a VERY filling breakfast all for about 300 calories. You will not be hungry for hours! And you will have packed in a ton of protein and a serving of vegetables. Hooray for healthy living.

4 tablespoons olive oil

In the meantime, melt the leftover 2 tablespoons of butter in another enormous pan over middle heat. Add the spinach and saut till heated thru. Season the spinach, to taste, with pepper and salt. Arrange the spinach over a platter. Place the chicken atop the spinach. Tip the sauce over and serve.

Wow Your Friends With These Great Summer Drinks

Faced with planning an upcoming, outdoor summer party, I spent about an hour on the internet a few days ago in search of some festive summer drinks. I couldn't believe how many great sounding recipes I encountered. Most of them were entirely new to me.

Then, I did some research. I mixed about 15 drinks myself for taste tests at home, and tried a few more at a friendly area bar. I discovered that prime time TV isn't quite as bad after a few drinks, and I found some great tasting drinks. Here are my five favorites.

At liclubs.com I found the Rasmopolitan. To make it, pour into a glass one ounce of Stoli, half as much Triple Sec, 1/2 an ounce of lime juice (preferably fresh squeezed), and as much cranberry juice as it takes to fill the glass. Stir, garnish with a lime slice, and enjoy.

A drink called Sex on the Beach also comes from liclubs.com (a sight I wound up bookmarking). By putting together a half ounce of peach schnapps, a half ounce of vodka, and an ounce each of pineapple juice and cranberry juice you get a very refreshing drink. I shook mine over ice and fell in love after the first sip.

Then there's the aptly named Creamy Root Beer I found at dreamsmixer.com. To make this simple but delicious drink, fill a frosted mug with ice cubes, pour in two ounces of Dr. Mcgillicuddy's Vanilla Schnapps, and fill to almost the top with root beer, before finishing with a teaspoon of cream.

It must be apparent by now that I'm not a beer and shot kind of guy. In fact, I'm not much of a drinker at all, but I really enjoyed the Strawberry Colada a local bartender fixed for me, following the recipe I found at frontgate.com; one and a quarter ounce of light rum, an ounce of pina colada mix, an ounce of strawberry daiquiri mix, and 1/4 of an ounce of pineapple juice. After blending and pouring, an orange slice and a cherry make an attractive, great tasting garnish.

I wanted an alcohol free drink for the party, and boy did I find a good one. On recipelink.com I chanced upon a drink called the Butterfinger, named after the candy bar which is part of the recipe. To make this sure crowd pleasing treat, freeze a bowl, a Butterfinger, and a sixteen once glass for at least a half hour. Longer is better. When you are ready to serve it, crush the Butterfinger...it's easier if you do so while it's wrapped, and put it to the side while you mix 2 cups of vanilla ice cream and a quarter cup of milk in the frozen bowl. When the ice cream and milk mixture is soft and smooth, stir in 2/3 of the crushed Butterfinger pieces...that's what the recipe says...I used the whole candy bar and had no regrets. Pour into the frozen glass, and serve with a spoon.

After my internet search and the delicious follow up research, I can recommend two things; the drinks described above and the wisdom of searching for drinks on the internet. Try both.
