Reap The Health Benefits Of Using Homemade Recipes With Baked Barbeque Chicken

By Gerald Hipps

White meat is known to be a healthier option than red meat. The way it is cooked makes all the different, though. The best way to cook white meat, including chicken, is without adding a lot of cooking fat. Cooking fish and chicken at home is one way to enjoy the health benefits of using homemade recipes.

How it is cooked makes all the difference. The less fat used in the cooking process, the better. The healthiest options are baking or barbequing. Only a small amount of oil is needed with these two methods. This is advised for chicken breasts because they are one of the tenderest parts and they cook quite fast. When combining the two methods, most people will sear the meat on the grill until they see the grill marks, then finish it in the oven.

One recipe uses only some barbeque sauce and chicken broth. Cover a baking dish lightly with chicken broth. On the broth, lay out a pound of chicken breasts or halves. Brush the chicken lightly with barbeque sauce. Top this up with the remaining can of chicken broth, which serves to keep the chicken from drying out. Bake it in an oven preheated to 325 degrees for an hour. When done, drizzle some barbeque sauce over it and its ready to serve.

Another recipe for baked barbeque chicken breasts takes 45 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees. Mix a half cup each of ketchup and brown sugar, a tablespoon each of lemon juice, mustard and Worcestershire sauce and a quarter cup of water. Boil all these at a low heat then pour it over four breasts. Bake for 15 minutes and it is ready to serve.

One advantage of these recipes is that you can use the chicken to make sandwiches, pies and other healthy snacks so that you keep enjoying the health benefits of using homemade recipes. You avoid unhealthy, fast foods and related lifestyle diseases. You get great cooking and add in the health benefits for a true win/win situation.
