Different Oils For Cooking

By Will Schlepinger

The food we eat to improve health is as important as how we cook the food. It's difficult to know which oils to use and avoid with so many oils and butter products claiming to be the best.

Canola oil. Canola oil is popular and many physicians claim that it can lower the risk of heart disease. This oil is high in monounsaturated fat and is low in saturated fat, plus it offers the best fatty acid composition than other oils.

Some of the uses of canola oil include marinade, sauting, and low temperature stir frying. Because of its bland flavor, you can use it for food that contain many spices. The other may interfere with the taste of you meal but this one won't.

Facts about olive oil. Offering a very distinct flavor with plenty of heart healthy ingredients is olive oil. It reduces risk of cancer, helps lower cholesterol levels, and is rich in monounsaturated fat. It's also rich in antioxidants and has a very long storage life.

Even though it can be used in cooking, it's the healthiest when uncooked, such as with a salad or dipping sauce. When it's used for cooking, it's important to avoid high heat so heat it on low to medium temperatures.

Learn more about butter. For many years, butter has been around. Butter tastes good, and offers sources of Vitamin A and other fat soluble vitamins such as E, K, and even D. It's not chemically or artificially processed but rather it's made from natural ingredients.

You can use butter with cooking, baking, or even as a spread. You can also pair it with creamy sauces, marinades, baked dishes, or even bread.

Facts about margarine. At first, margarine was the alternative to high fat butter. But it was loaded with trans fat when it was first created and this is a substance that raises bad cholesterol.

Margarine tastes good as a cooking oil and unlike most oils and butter it's lower in fat and easy to spread. It's a good source of Vitamin E and is available in a variety of different products.

There are several cooking oils at your disposal. The ones mentioned above are the most popular, although there are many more out there. Cooking healthy food comes with eating healthy and your cooking oil will take center stage.
