What You Might Not Realise About Pork

By Jeremy Caxton

Pork is a meat that is an ingredient for some of our most favourite dishes. People in the UK have been eating this meat for hundreds of years. It is very versatile and best of all it is extremely tasty. Here are just a few things that you may not know about this interesting meat.

- Because pork is such a mild meat, means that it is great for seasoning. Each time you eat pork you could make it taste different and that is why you would never get bored with it. If you really want to appreciate how different pork can taste then you just have to think about barbeque pork ribs and pork sausages.

- Those people who are worried about their weight don't need to avoid eating pork. Pork is actually sold much leaner than it used to be. If you want to have the leanest possible pork then always choose the loin. If you want something really lean, then go for tenderloin as this is just as lean as chicken without the skin.

- Pork is a very healthy meat because it contains so many important vitamins and minerals. And it also contains plenty of protein which is also required by the body.

- You should be able to get rid of nearly all the fat in pork if you choose to boil it. Letting the water sit for ten minutes after the meat has cooked will see brown stuff rising to the surface. This brown stuff is fat from the meat that cannot be seen before cooking and if you get rid of it, the meat will be healthier.

- If you grill pork then this is another healthy option. Grilling your pork on the highest heat possible will keep all the juices in the meat and this will make it tastier.

So there you have just a few interesting facts about pork. Finding out interesting facts about pork will make it more enjoyable when you eat it.
