Crazy Fantastic Oatmeal Facials that Save You Money

By Philip Beaudry

Using simple ingredients found in your kitchen, you can give yourself almost the exact same facial that would cost you an arm and a leg at a spa. Natural ingredients make for the best facials. One of the best ingredients to cleanse and moisturize your skin is oatmeal. Lots of people use oatmeal in body products. The oatmeal based facials that follow will help you cleanse and moisturize your skin naturally.

Mix together a tablespoon of oatmeal powder, a single egg white and a few drops of lemon oil. Most natural or homeopathic stores carry lemon oil or you can look for it in the organic section of your grocery store. Oatmeal powder can be made by smashing oatmeal that you have on hand. You shouldn't use the instant kind for this, though. Because you're using egg in this mixture, it's important to mix the ingredients together thoroughly and completely. Taking care to avoid your eyes, spread the mixture on your face. Leave on your face until it is dry, about twenty minutes. Use a soft washcloth and water to remove the dried mask.

This next recipe includes yogurt and cooked oats. Be sure that you mash the cooked oats as you mix the ingredients together. Be sure that you have completely broken down the oats before you attempt to put the mixture on your face. To thin the mixture if it is too thick simply add more yogurt or some milk. Let this mixture sit after spreading on the skin but avoiding eyes for just a few minutes. When the mask has dried, rinse it from your face and pat dry any excess moisture. Follow it with your usual toner and moisturizing routine.

Really oily skin can also benefit from an oatmeal facial. And this mixture is one of the easiest to make. Add water to natural oatmeal to make a creamy paste. Spread this paste on your face, avoiding the area around your eyes, then let it dry completely. This might take a while but try to be patient. Remove from your face using your fingers once the mask has dried. This should keep your skin from feeling excessively oily, while helping it feel clean and moisturized. Use water to rinse away any leftover oatmeal bits and use a soft towel to pat dry.

Perhaps you want to experiment with your own recipe this is ok too. Before you spread your own mix across your skin do a patch test for sensitivity. You will find an oatmeal facial that works well for you without ever having to spend a dime on those expensive salons or spas.
