Authentic Mexican Recipes: Traditional Treats From Our Tasty Neighbors

By Carlos Lima

Authentic Mexican recipes are one of the most delicious segments of Latin cuisine I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. They combine the Latin regular ingredients of masa corn, frijoles, along with spicy chiles and pepper, cumin, and Mexican rice to create very delicious dishes that almost anyone can enjoy.

Authentic Mexican recipes are sometimes complex, but many more of them are simple and quite easy to follow and make the corresponding Mexican dish. Even if you're new to cooking, you'll probably be able to figure out how to cook authentic Mexican food for yourself in your kitchen, as long as you can get a hold of fresh ingredients from the market.

Authentic Mexican recipes employ the use of a lot of fresh ingredients that really do need to be fresh in order to produce the Mexican dish properly, so these ingredients are key when it comes to real Mexican recipes.

Due to their rather small amount of exposure abroad, real authentic Mexican food are often neglected by people craving the more Americanized version of the cuisine commonly referred to as "Tex-Mex" food, which you'll find in a lot of the so-called "Mexican" food restaurants abroad. A lot of these recipes make use of far heavier cheeses and more greasy, fatty ingredients that tend to taste great when you have a craving, but they really don't capture that fresh tasting essence of the food served inside the real Mexico on tables, today.

Mexican cuisine was actually designated with UNESCO's new label of an "intangible cultural heritage", and with it's help it will actually stand a chance of surviving today, in a world of fast foods and instant meals, but it's certainly going to be an uphill battle, so if you believe in supporting Latin food and you enjoy the extra flavor and vitality that arruchurra recipes bring to the international food scene, you can support them and help them last by purchasing your food from the smaller Latin food markets around you, instead of the big chain grocery stores, and savoring the fresh ingredients you'll use when cooking your traditional Mexican food for your hungry guests! Provecho!
