An Overview on Popular Coffee Maker Accessories

By Celia Hand

Did you know that coffee is the most ordered beverage in the world other than tea? For more than a century, this particular drink has captured our sense of taste and smell due to its aromatic features. A sip of this brew is as important as our meal for most of us coffee lovers.

Coffee differs in tastes and aroma depending on which tropical country it has been produced. Its taste may vary because makers have their own method in producing coffee beans and in the way they roast, mill, and grind it.

But to have this wonderful brew right at your fingertips without ever visiting your local caf? you need to have your own coffee maker and equip it with accessories important in making a blend. Some of these essential accessories are water filters, coffee filters, warmers, and coffee grinders.

To start with, a water filter is one of the most important coffee maker accessories because it separates tap water particles from mixing with your blend. Regular or tap water is considered as hard water because of the mineral contaminants in it. The most ideal kind of water for a fantastic brew is soft water which is filtered water.

Other important coffee maker accessories are coffee filters, which strain out the ground coffee beans and keep them from mixing with the brew. If you have these in your coffee maker, you can always be sure that you will never get to sip any ground coffee residue while enjoying your freshly brewed coffee.

One can choose from three different coffee filters available in the market. The most common is the paper filter. They are cheap so you will be able to save some money but you can expect some paper aftertaste when you use them while brewing your coffee. There is also a cloth filter which is more durable than paper filters. You can reuse them after rinsing without tearing them apart. The most expensive are gold filters which are even more durable than the above two mentioned and are lined with real gold along its edges.

An additional coffee maker accessory are the millers. If you have these in your home, you will be able to make your own ground coffee by grinding the coffee beans yourself. Its razor sharp edges make it very efficient in grinding and milling hard coffee beans.

Warmers are also a type of add on. They help you keep your pot warm so you never have to sip cold brew any more. Aside from your coffee pot, you can also use this to heat your soups or any beverages you wish to keep warm.
