A Wealth Of Seasonal Recipes Worth Considering

By Tanisha Berg

People who enjoy cooking might choose from a vast assortment of dishes. There are plenty of foods and beverages worth making. Many individuals prefer to prepare various foods according to the particular season of the year. Some dishes seem more appropriate in the warm months, than they do in the cool months. Many seasonal recipes are based on certain holidays, as well.

In the springtime, people might make an assortment of dishes. Many people associate the spring months with eating foods that contain fresh fruits and vegetables. A quiche that contains broccoli and mushrooms could be an ideal choice for spring. Springtime dessert foods may include peach cobbler, strawberry cake, or cherry pie. Beverages that might be perfect for spring include fruit smoothies, fresh fruit juice, and milkshakes blended with plenty of ice.

In regions where the summer months are warm or hot, people might wish to make specific kinds of foods. Dishes that should be chilled before they are served might make the best options, when the temperature outside is hot. Salad typically seems to be an ideal choice for warm months. A person might make a light pasta salad to bring to a picnic. Cold sandwiches are also suitable for the months of hot weather. A summer sandwich might consist of horseradish dressing smeared on sourdough bread, several thin slices of steak, and sliced cucumbers.

When the temperature is hot, a vast assortment of beverages could be appealing. Fresh lemonade can be quite refreshing, particularly when it is served over ice. Mint juleps may contain alcohol, but they can also be made without it. People who drink cocktails could enjoy cold vodka mixed with slices of ginger and lemon. Strawberry margaritas are always popular in the summer months.

An array of appealing foods might be created in the autumn. In autumn months, many people love to eat soups and stews that are made with squash. An inviting menu for an autumn dinner could include pork that has been roasted, baked apples that are covered in cream, and a dessert of pecan pie. Autumn may also be a good time to concoct a thick pumpkin milkshake made with vanilla ice cream, or a spritzer that contains cranberry juice and slices of lime.

A broad array of foods may be perfect for the winter months, especially in places where the winter months are cool or cold. Winter might be an ideal season for glazing a ham and serving it with mashed potatoes. Those who crave sweet foods might enjoy sweet potato pie, chocolate fudge, or almond and cranberry cookies.

If the weather is cold, a hot beverage is likely to be a tempting treat. A cup of hot cocoa can be especially delectable, when it is topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, and chocolate sprinkles. Hot cider is generally welcome in cold temperatures. Hot coffee can be mixed with peppermint liqueur and fresh cream, and a stick of peppermint candy might be used to stir such a concoction.

People can have a lot of fun, when they prepare meals according to the weather. In every season, there are certain kinds of foods and drinks that people have traditionally enjoyed. Unfortunately, it is probably impossible to try all of them during the course of one year.
