Sweet And Delicate Tampa Wines

By Krystal Branch

Wine grapes were first planted in the state of Florida in the sixteenth century. Although wine making has deep roots there, due to their tropical climate, until the nineteenth century, there was no mass production of Tampa wines. In the thirties, a new hybrid was developed, suited for this type of climate, and it was the real beginning of more serious wine production.

The specialties of Tampa bay Area are fruit or citrus vines, although some wineries make their products using grapes only. One of these companies focused on original grape beverages only is The strong Tower winery. All their products are made from four types of grapes, but even they have a special, blueberry wine in their offer. Different combinations of citrus and grape vines can be found in most other wineries.

Other wineries such as Florida Orange Groves and Winery, located in Pinellas County, offers pure citrus based vines. If you are more interested in traditional wineries, you can try some of their tasty and interesting products in Rosa Fiorelly winery, in Bradenton. They offer free wine tasting every day, and the same thing is with The Florida Estates winery in Paco County.

There are no enough grapes varieties here for more serious vine production. That's why they import their grapes from Canada and California. The most popular vines they make here are Pinot Noir, White Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Most manufacturers combine these grapes or done vines with fruits, making very interesting and tasty combinations.

Florida fruit vines might surprise you. One of the most popular fruit vines is a blueberry vine. You will find sweet, dry and semi-dry ones, and all are full of specific flavor and aroma you will soon learn to appreciate. There is also one very light and seductive product, just ideal for hot summer days. This delicious, delicate vine is made from strawberries and Riesling grapes. Chilled and gold colored vine is a perfect companion to your seasonal salad, mixed fruits or sweets.

Keel and Curley winery produces very interesting combined grape and fruit wines. Some of their products won numerous golden medals for quality, and one of their great products is very tasty combination of Pinor Noir and wild berries, including blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and blackberry. Intensive aromas go very well with more intensive, spicy dishes, including Asian cuisine.

Tangerine and Zinfandel combination is especially refreshing. The taste is bitter and sweet, and you can make very nice cocktails for hot summer days using this lovely vine. Another tasty and refreshing combination is light and interesting Key West Key Lime. It contains domestic limes and Sauvignon Blanc. The beverage is light and delicate, and it is served chilled.

Blackberries are especially healthy fruits, strong, aromatic, full of anti oxidants and valuable minerals and vitamins. The vine made from these berries is widely recognized and appreciated. All valuable ingredients are perfectly preserved there, and it is important that this vine ages for many months to become so intensive. The taste is strong and intensive, and it takes some time to get used to it, but it will improve your blood characteristics.

Among this wide variety of different tastes, you will certainly find something for yourself. Tampa wines are interesting, full of flavor but refreshing and aromatic. You will find more or less traditional wineries here, as well as those focused on citrus vines only. The decision is yours, but you won't know for sure unless you try them. Some fruit vines really deserve to find their place in your wine cellar.
